Gathering Cattle

Be a part of the early morning cattle drives. You'll be issued a tin cup and a red bandanna then watch at a distance or ride along. Help with sorting and doctoring.  

Understand the bond between man and the animals on which he has depended for centuries.  You may feed the horses, lead the colts or work on horse training.

Listen to the horses nickering, the campfire crackling and savor the wholesome food cooked over an open fire. Surrender to to the sweet prairie sensations as you wander back in time.  Be treated as long-lost, mid-west friends as you step into history and gain an understanding that you can't get from books.

Savor the aroma of the expertly prepared western campfire specialties cooked outside over the hot, crackling coals.  Even stew, biscuits and peach cobbler fascinate guests as they watch  the preparation and eagerly anticipate their completion. Wander back in time.  Sit in the school seats. Walk into the school-marm's house. Live history, feel it as you share some of the same experiences the pioneers had.  Gain a perspective never before reached by simply reading history books. Go to some of the same places the Daltons and Frank and Jessie James went. Think what they must have thought as they tied their horses.

Listen to the music, laugh at the cowboy stories and play the games of a time recaptured. Relax and enjoy your neighbor.
